The compact DiMAGE E323 combines high-quality images and value-added features such as digital video, digital subject program selection, and e-mail copy function, in an attractive and easy-to-use package. This 3.2 megapixel, 3X zoom camera makes digital photography simple and fun even for a first-time user.
DIMAGE E323 Features
The DiMAGE E323s precision electro-optical system is built around a 3.3 megapixel, 1/2.7-type interline primary-color CCD with 3.2 million effective pixels for high-resolution images. This resolution can produce 10 x 14 inch (B4-size) 150dpi prints or double-L size photo-quality prints.
6 Megapixel Interpolation
For those special occasions where you want to make large prints, the DiMAGE E323 can automatically interpolate the data when it is captured to create a 6-megapixel image. This will allow you to make A3-size 150dpi prints or A4-size 300dpi prints.
12X (3X optical, 4X digital) Zoom Lens
The DiMAGE E323 is equipped with a 3X optical zoom. With a focal range of 5.6mm to 16.8mm, the lens is equivalent to a 36 108mm zoom on a 35mm camera. It can range from wide angle for landscapes to telephoto for portraits. The resolution of the seven-element, six-group lens design ensures optimum results from the 3.3 megapixel CCD. The maximum aperture of f/2.8 4.9 allows the camera to be used in less than ideal lighting conditions without flash. DiMAGE E323s digital zoom can extend the optical zooms performance by four times, giving the E323 an equivalent of a 432mm super-telephoto lens on a 35mm camera. The combined optical and digital zooms give this compact digital camera a very potent 12X zoom range.
The high-performance five-point autofocus system makes taking beautiful, sharp images simple. Just place the subject anywhere within the extra-wide focus frames and the camera will do the rest. The camera uses visual and audio signals to confirm focus.
The cameras macro mode allows small objects and details to be captured clearly. The lens can focus down to 5.9 inches for crisp, close-up photographs.
Digital Subject Program Selection
In addition to the E323s fully automatic point & shoot program mode (Auto), Digital Subject Programs can be selected which optimize the cameras exposure, white-balance, and image-processing controls for specific scenes and subjects. Six subject programs are available
Sports: Captures clear, sharp images of moving subjects.
Portrait: Reproduces warm, soft skin tones and creates slightly defocused backgrounds.
Landscape: ensures sharp images of expansive scenes.
Night Scene: Captures the romantic ambience of illuminated night scenes such as city skylines. When used with flash, this setting balances the flash illumination on the subject with the background ambient light, for great-looking night portraits.
Cosmetic: Fixes the focus at 8.2 feet; controls sharpness and edge emphasis to give a smooth appearance to skin.
Slim: Changes the images aspect ratio.
Continuous Shooting Mode
For capturing the action as it unfolds, the DiMAGE E323 can continuously record still images at a rate of 1.5 frames per second.
The DiMAGE E323s advanced multi-segment metering system uses information about subject location from the AF system along with 256 metering segments to calculate the optimum exposure based on subject and background brightness. There is no need to worry that the subject will be lost in deep shadows or washed out in front of dark backgrounds. Additionally, the built-in flash is activated automatically in backlit or low-light conditions.
The DiMAGE E323 is very easy to operate. Exposure, focus, white balance, and flash are all controlled automatically for beautiful color pictures. Just point and shoot; the camera will do the rest. And to transfer the data from the camera, simply connect the USB cable, and drag and drop the images into a computer.
The DiMAGE E323 is not limited to recording still images; movies can be captured. The length of the movie clip is limited only by resolution and the capacity of the cameras memory card. Clips can be shot at two resolutions: 320 x 240 pixels for large (QVGA) images or 160 x 120 pixels for economic use of the SD memory card.
Versatile Playback Options Plus a Video Out Terminal
Captured still and video images can be played back in the camera or on a TV. Still images can be played back automatically like a slide show. Images can be rotated to orient them correctly so you dont need to twist your head to the left or right to view vertically framed shots.
E-Mail Copy Function
Sending e-mail images was never this simple. The DiMAGE E323s e-mail copy function makes a 640 x 480 or 160 x 120 JPEG copy of an image on the memory card so that it can be easily transferred over the Internet.
Dark Noise Reduction
Dark noise, an ever-present problem in electronic systems, manifests itself by giving a grainy or sandy appearance to images taken with long exposures. The DiMAGE E323 combats this with a noise-reduction function, which automatically activates for exposures of one second or longer.
Uses SD Memory Cards or MultiMediaCards
The DiMAGE E323 uses the popular SD Memory Cards or MultiMediaCards as recording media. These tiny cards are about the size of a commemorative stamp, and are widely available.
Uses AA Batteries
The DiMAGE E323 is powered by easy to find AA batteries -- both alkaline and rechargeable Ni-MH. No matter where you are in the world, you will never have to worry about finding extra batteries.
Bundled with DiMAGE Viewer
DiMAGE Viewer supports the latest generation of Minolta digital cameras. The Viewer complements the camera by allowing still and movie images to be processed and edited on a computer. A wide range of image-processing controls is available, plus a new movie enhancer plug-in for editing and processing digital video. The DiMAGE Viewer is not limited to images captured with Minolta cameras, and can edit and process numerous common image-file formats.
